About Tartan Store

The Scotweb Store and Shopping Club is a service from Scotweb, an independent family-owned company situated in a beautiful leafy street near the centre of Edinburgh, Scotland. Our wonderful team of twelve full-time staff (who share directly in the business's success) are trained to strive for excellence in every aspect of our activities, from web development to customer service.

Founded in 1995, Scotweb was Scotland's first company to offer secure shopping on the Web. Our mission has always been the same: to bring the world the very best of Scottish products. Until 2004 we specialised in promoting partner companies who offered the best of their kind. But now we also supply you directly ourselves, putting into practice everything we've learned about easy-to-use and secure online trading. We hope you enjoy the results!

We do our utmost to achieve best practice standards in everything we do, believing that if we treat our customers well, our suppliers well, and our staff well, then they in turn will do well by us. This traditional Scottish approach to business, where integrity and personal relationships matter more than quick profit, lies behind the astonishing success of the far-flung global Scots community. We aim to continue this tradition.

Scotweb was established by Nick Fiddes, whose previous careers include lecturing in Social Anthropology, administering Children's Theatre, and technology sales. In 2002 his partner Adele Telford took time out from her career as a doctor to co-direct Scotweb, bringing with her a superb eye for the authentic and distinctive products that we can now share with you in our own Store and Club.

We have designed this service to offer what you, our customers, have been telling us you would like. And we will keep developing it, based on your requests, in the coming months and years.
